Webex Configuration

QMS connects to the Webex as a Service App, which eliminates any dependencies on an individual user account to authorize with. To create a service app you need to login to the developer portal (https://developer.webex.com/) using a Webex account that has the compliance officer role. Note that the default administrator account in a webex tenant does not normally have the compliance officer role, so make sure you are using the correct type of account, otherwise you will not be able to approve the service app.

After logging into the developer portal as a compliance officer, complete the following steps:

  1. Find the section under your profile icon called "My Webex Apps".

  2. Click "Create a New App"

  3. Fill in the details and select the following scopes:

    1. spark-admin:people_read

    2. spark-compliance:recordings_read

    3. spark-compliance:recordings_write

    4. spark:calls_read

  4. Make a note of the ClientID and Client Secret as you will need this later for QMS configuration settings. After this step the Client Secret will no longer be visible in the developer portal. However, if you lose this secret you can regenerate a new key and update QMS accordingly.

  5. Click the "Submit for Admin Authorization" button (so the service app can be used by other users in the organization).

  6. Go back to the Webex admin portal (https://admin.webex.com/), click on App / Service Apps and you should see your new app listed there (assuming you are still logged in as compliance officer). Click on it to Authorise the app.

  7. Once the service app has been authorized, return to the "My Webex Apps" page in the developer portal, click your service app and generate the access and refresh tokens. This is done under the "Org Authorizations" sub header where you select the organization and enter the Client Secret and click Generate Tokens. Make a note of these tokens as you will need these for QMS configuration settings.

Webex User Configuration

Webex users are linked to QMS users by extension, therefore each Webex user will require a unique extension.

Webex users must have recording enabled in Webex. Recording must be handled by the default Webex recorder. QMS cannot import recordings provided via third-party recording providers.
