Archiving

Archiving, in QMS, refers to the relocation of recorded content to a different storage location. Archive operations do not remove any data from the database and archived recordings are still fully accessible from the QMS client user interface. Archiving is most useful for situations where it is desired to have all recordings reside on a single storage device to aid in ease of backups or for situations where it is desirable to have older recordings reside on a less expensive storage device.

One alternative to archiving is to enable the automatic transfer of recordings from the server that recorded them to a network storage device. This setting can be enabled in the service configuration within the Administration section of the QMS Client application. Files can either be transferred immediately after recording or else they can be transferred based on a schedule during off-hours so as to minimize impact to the network.
