Step 14 – Setup Merge Replication between the Primary and Secondary SQL Servers
This step sets up the SQL Server Instances with merge replication. This replication ensures that any data written to either the Primary or Secondary database will be replicated to the other database. This ensures data redundancy. If the primary database fails, QMS will automatically failover to the secondary. Because the data from the Primary is replicated to the Secondary, the Secondary will already have a duplicate set of data. QMS will continue to write data to the secondary until the Primary comes back online.
Once that occurs, two things will happen. First, QMS will recognize the Primary is back online and revert back to using the Primary. Second, SQL Server will also recognize that the primary is back and will replicate all the data written to the Secondary database back to the Primary. Both databases will be duplicated.
