There are four broad types of installation options available specific to installing RTP Data Collector for recording on OCS Deployments:
Endpoint-based Recording - Requires the RTPDataCollector utility be installed on each computer that Office Communicator runs on
Server-based Recording - Requires Port Mirroring to be enabled on the network switch
Mixed-mode Recording - Deployment model that utilizes both Endpoint and Server based Recording models
Remote Deployment - Deployment of the RTPDataCollector remotely to multiple PCs
