KBA 1002 - Managing CallRex Log File

CallRex logs are a debug tool used by Telrex engineers to solve reported problems. There is usually no need to retain logs for extended periods of time. These logs can accumulate to a point of taking up gigabytes of hard drive space. This article will walk you through how to delete old log files and how to set up CallRex to automatically delete these logs.

Prerequisites

The system must be running CallRex 4.0.x or later.

The following instructions apply to main servers and data collectors.

To Manage CallRex Log files:

  1. You must log into the server as an administrator.

  2. Open Windows Explorer and go to the following location depending on your Operating System:

  3. Delete all log files older than 30 days.

  4. Navigate to the CallRex folder.

  5. Double-click on CrConfig.exe or if file extensions are hidden, CRConfig. A panel is displayed.

  6. At the bottom of the panel, you will see Keep Logs for __ days. Enter the number of days you would like to retain log files for. It is not recommended that you go below ten days.

  7. Be careful not to make any other changes as this can affect your CallRex operation.

  8. Hit OK at the bottom of the panel and OK again at the prompt. The automatic log deletion setup is now complete.

  9. You will need to stop and start the CallRex services for the new settings to take effect. The task automatically runs at midnight each night.
