In this type of deployment, port mirroring is implemented in the network to mirror the traffic of all devices that need to be recorded to the port that the Quality Management capture interface is listening on. In this deployment model, RTP Data Collector utility is running on the Quality Management Server itself and directs the audio received via port mirroring to the appropriate CallRecording Service. Since no application are placed on the endpoints, Microsoft approved the recording of both hardphones and softphones using this type of deployment.
For this deployment model, the RTP DataCollector is installed on the Quality Management Server and the RTPDataCollectorService.exe.config. The config file in the installed directory needs to be modified. A key RTPDataCollectorEngine.OperationMode should be created and the value should be Mirroring.
